Lovely b&b This place is a lovely place to stay. It offers true peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of Florence. Staff are lovely, breakfast was decent and every is clean and tidy. Location: The location was perfect for us as we wanted a more quiet neighbourhood. It’s about a 10 minute walk from Duomo though, and most of the main attractions are further so expect walks of up to half an hour (especially with the slow, heavy foot traffic of tourists). Check in and access: Check in and getting into the hotel and the room is fairly complicated. We got sent long instructions on how to get in, which we were luckily able to understand but we bumped into other new guests during our stay who we had to help. On top of having to use multiple access codes, we were given 4 keys for access too. It was not easy but we got the hang of it. The room: The room is decent. The bed is huge and there is plenty of storage if you want to properly pack. The bathroom was a good size - it showed some signs of wear but honestly a clean bathroom and a very lovely shower. The air conditioning was adequate for our time of year. With highs of 32, the aircon still kept us cool but the unit itself is by the window so when you close the curtains, the unit is covered. This wasn’t an issue for us, the room was still cool and we understand there are some restrictions due to the historic status of the area. There is a big TV in the room which we also appreciated after a long day of walking! Swimming pool: The swimming pool was lovely and this is definitely a luxury in a place like Florence. Being able to have a cool dip after a long day of walking was fabulous. Breakfast: Breakfast was continental style and relatively basic but there are lots of sweet pastries and these are delicious. Coffee choice is via a machine - it was fine for what we needed but if you’re a coffee snob, you may struggle. The experience: The hotel operates more like a B&B, which, in my opinion, is not clear from their listings on booking.com. You won’t see many staff, you are expected to make your own coffees and the cleaning of rooms is something you have to ask for. This wasn’t really a problem for us, but if you’re looking for a hotel that pampers you, this isn’t the place for you. That being said, when staff are around, they are all very lovely and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would use the hotel again!Posted on Google![]()

My boyfriend & I stayed here for our two day trip in Florence. We were greeted with such kindness from our host. The place was about a 10 minute walk to everything, which was perfect. It kept the place quiet at night & felt like an absolute oasis with the pool. We got to hop in a few times in the morning & afternoon after a long day of walking around the districts. Would absolutely come back & cannot thank them enough for the hospitality!Posted on Google![]()

Extremely disappointing experience. Unfair accusations and terrible customer service. We stayed at Villa Tortorelli in Florence. The room was nice, the location was great, right in the city center, and it was very convenient for exploring Florence. At first, the staff also seemed friendly. Unfortunately, our experience at check-out completely ruined our stay. When we first entered our room, there was only ONE set of keys on the table. However, when we were checking out, a staff member stopped us and asked where the second set was. We explained that we had never received it, but the staff insisted that they had personally checked the room before our arrival and that both sets of keys had definitely been there. They demanded that we pay €30 for the missing keys! We explained that if we had actually lost the keys, we would have had no problem paying for them. But we were absolutely certain that we had only received one set. We checked EVERYTHING: our luggage, our car, every pocket, the room, and even the rubbish bin. Despite this, the staff continued insisting that we were responsible. They even called the previous guest, who initially confirmed that she had left both sets of keys in the room. We wasted almost an entire HOUR trying to prove that we had not taken something we had never received. We had an event to attend in Bologna, and because of this completely unnecessary situation, we were late. And then, after almost an hour of arguing, the previous guest called back and admitted that she had found the missing keys IN HER OWN BAG! So, after all the accusations, searches, and demands for €30, it turned out that we had been telling the truth the entire time. What makes this situation even worse is that the staff repeatedly claimed they had personally checked the room and confirmed that both sets of keys were there before our arrival. How could they have checked this if the missing keys were actually in the previous guest’s bag? They either never checked the room properly or deliberately gave us false information to make us accept responsibility for their mistake. Both possibilities are completely unacceptable. And what would have happened if the previous guest had never called back? Would we have been forced to pay €30 for something we had never received? This was not just a misunderstanding about missing keys. It was an extremely unprofessional way to treat guests. Instead of considering that they might have made a mistake, the staff insisted that we were responsible and wasted an hour of our time. A nice room and a great location mean very little when guests are treated this way. We left feeling extremely angry and disappointed. What should have been a simple check-out turned into an exhausting argument that made us late for our event. Unfortunately, this experience completely ruined our impression of Villa Tortorelli. I would not recommend staying somewhere that treats its guests this way and refuses to take responsibility for its own mistakes.Posted on Booking![]()

☺Airconditioned rooms and pool after hot day ☹I had scheduled the washing of our clothes on this stop of the trip. The laundry facilities were not open. When I asked they said locked only open until 3pm. Times open and closed would have been nice knowing prior - we couldn't do our washing which was disappointing.Posted on Booking![]()

Absolutely unacceptable. Wrong room, misleading photos, followed by a compensation offer that suddenly meant something completely different. This was without a doubt one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. My girlfriend is pregnant, which is exactly why we deliberately chose to stay in a hotel rather than another type of accommodation. With the heat in Florence, we wanted some certainty: a comfortable, cool room where she could properly rest. We chose Villa Tortorelli specifically based on the photos of the Deluxe Suite. What we received upon arrival looked nothing like what had been advertised. Instead of the beautiful, spacious Deluxe Suite shown in the photos, we were put in a small, extremely hot attic room with low, sloping ceilings. The bathroom was underneath a glass roof and became so unbearably hot that taking a normal shower was barely possible. For my pregnant girlfriend, this was absolutely awful. And the hotel knew that she was pregnant. Only after we complained did it become clear that we had not been given the correct room. According to the hotel, nothing could be done that first night. We simply had to stay in that room and could only move to the correct room the following day. That alone would have been enough reason for a very negative review. But the way the compensation was handled afterwards made the whole experience even worse. The hotel offered us, in writing, a €50 refund AND, in addition, free parking for our stay. This was not something we invented or demanded afterwards. It was the hotel’s own proposed solution. We accepted this and considered the matter resolved. We then received the €50 refund, but nothing regarding the free parking. When we asked about it, the story suddenly changed: we were told that the €50 actually represented the value of the free parking. That was already strange, because their original message literally stated that we would receive a €50 refund and, in addition, free parking. When we pointed this out, we were told that there had been a misunderstanding and that the original message had been poorly worded. But then came the most astonishing part: the hotel subsequently confirmed in writing that parking had already been included in the original price of our reservation. Read that again. First, we were offered a €50 refund plus free parking as compensation. Then we were told that the €50 was actually meant to represent the free parking. And finally, the hotel admitted that parking had already been included in the price of our reservation in the first place. How can something that was already included in the price be presented afterwards as compensation for everything that went wrong? Throughout our stay, we were extremely understanding. Mistakes happen. Giving a guest the wrong room can happen. But then acknowledge the mistake and resolve it properly. What we find unacceptable is offering a clear form of compensation and then, when we ask about it, giving us different explanations, with the final explanation directly contradicting the previous one. At this point, it is not even about a few euros anymore. It is about how you treat your guests. We deliberately chose this hotel because my girlfriend is pregnant. We spent the first night in an extremely hot attic room that looked nothing like the room we had booked, could barely use the bathroom comfortably, had to chase the hotel ourselves for a solution, and were then dragged into this ridiculous discussion about compensation that the hotel itself had offered. If the hotel had simply said from the beginning, “We are sorry, we made a mistake and €50 is the compensation we can offer,” we probably would have understood. Instead, the way this unfolded left us with the strong impression that a different explanation was given every time we referred back to what had previously been promised in writing. For us, trust is at least as important as a beautiful hotel room. That trust has completely disappeared. We absolutely cannot recommend Villa Tortorelli.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The hard working staff on site are friendly and helpful, the pool is lovely and clean and the location was good. We did ☺Location was great and staff at the property were friendly and helpful ☹We booked a room with a terrace that online looked bright and fresh. On arrival I was disappointed to find the room (#2) lacked natural light and was very, very dark. During the day we had to use the room lights which were over -bright and harsh and as a result of this the room did not feel warm or inviting at all. The terrace and bathroom were very tired and overall so were the parts of the property we saw - for the price - the room was disappointing. I did request a room move and understandably in high season this could not be arranged - so 3 days felt a long time in a room we did not like or feel comfortable in at all.Posted on Airbnb![]()

The staff was amazing and the rooms were clean and comfortable Pros: Two of the three rooms were right next to each other, with an outer door, a small vestibule, and doors to each of the rooms. This worked out well as we could put the baby to sleep in one room and sit together and talk in the other. While, the third room was a little bit farther down the hall, it still worked out perfectly Cons: Not a fan of all the technical stuff that had to be done in order to check in. There is a code to do everything and while I understand, it’s necessary for security, with three rooms, a door code, occurred to get into the courtyard, a code to get to the pool, a code to get into our luggage storage, it is quite cumbersome and confusingPosted on Hotels.com![]()

The staff was very helpful, kind and accommodating when available! We arrived around 6pm to check in and no staff was present, which made the process a little complicated - it would have been easier if we were just sent one link/document with all relevant information related to our stay, including information on how to lock the door. In terms of the room, the toilet seat was quite loose, and the soaps provided were tiny (and only shampoo was provided, no conditioner). Other than that, great location and lovely pool area. Breakfast was good as well! | Liked: hygiëne en personeel en servicePosted on Google![]()

We loved our accommodations at Villa Tortorelli. Information for check in was detailed and complete but still a bit tricky. Once we figured out we were nestled within a beautiful building behind a majestic wood door, it all made sense! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Having an elevator and king sized sleeping accommodation were on our “must have” list and this was perfect. The location was great for us and Florence is wonderfully walkable. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We did not use the pool but it was beautiful and would be refreshing on hot days. Finally, the view from the terrace included the Duomo - beautiful!+5Posted on Google![]()

The villa is situated in the heart of the historical centre of Florence, but there is no noise coming from the street and the area is very peaceful. The interior design is very meticulously curated and everything is clean both inside and outside the villa. The breakfast was of great quality with fresh ingredients, especially the artisan bakery products. The staff are very kind and helpful, and the overall atmosphere of the place is cosy and inviting. Don;t let the somewhat complex instruction re getting in worry you as it soon becomes easier. The pool was a great plus.
